Twitter users are waking up to find that the little blue bird has flown the coop. The owner Elon Musk changed the iconic bird logo to the letter X. It happened this morning. He’d posted a short video of a flickering X yesterday. Then overnight he tweeted the image of the X projected onto the Twitter headquarters. The logo swap is the latest change since Musk bought Twitter last year for 44 billion dollars. He says the idea of using an X is to “embody the imperfections in all of us”. You can already see the change on your desk top app and the new logo will likely be coming to your phone apps pretty soon.

The project costs 20 billion dollars and though the bulk of the money is entails, some of it will come from the government which is throwing 52 billion dollars in subsidies of the semiconductor industry.   It’s part of the flood of money the government is directing towards industry investment in a plan to outrun China and retain economic superiority in the 21 st century. But it will take 7000 construction workers to build the plant and three thousand operators. うれしい I am glad. 中学の英語の授業で学ぶ「うれしい」がこのglad。日常会話でも普通に使います。ある事実に対して「うれしい」と。ただこの後紹介する表現に比べると一番淡々としてる印象。 I'm glad that you made it. できてよかったね I'm glad to have you here. あなたが来てくれてうれしい I'm happy. gladよりも感情的でうれしさが深い印象。うれしい気持ちが物事ではなく、相手に向かっている。それでも他の表現に比べると落ち着いた平坦な感情。 I'm happy for you. Congrats for promotion. 昇進おめでとう。私もうれしい。 He's happy that you like your new position. あなたが新しい仕事気に入ってくれて彼も喜んでいます。 I'm pleased. 過去分詞の表現。"please someone"で誰かを喜ばせる。つまり、何かによってだれかによって自分が「喜ばされた」という表現。これは、あることがきっかけで瞬間的にうれしくなる感じです。 I'm pleased to see you again. またお目にかかれてうれしいです I'm flattered. flatterという動詞はお世辞を言う、過度に褒めるという意味。なので人から褒められたり、十分すぎる評価をもらったときなど謙遜の気持ちを込めてI'm flatteredと使います。 A: You did really well today.
