Practical English Episode A-39 臨場感

 臨場感

The movie Damon slyer is all the craze this summer and it is likely to break the box office record. 

I guess one of the reasons people go to the theater instead of watching movies at home is because they want to immerse themselves in the movies and feel the vibe.

The screen is big, the audio is clear and of course it is always nice to enjoy freshly made popcorns while watching the movies.

I am not a big fun of movies and I always watch drama series on Netflix but anyway...

Sense of immersion/ sense of being there　その場にいる感覚

senseはそのまま「感覚」。immersionは「熱中、没頭」。ある環境に入り込んでいるといった感じ。より口語的にするのなら"being there"と「そこにいる」が自然かと思います。

I love watching movies in the theater because you get the sense of immersion.

映画は映画館で見るのが好き。臨場感があるから。

The online movie tour to The Amazon Rainforest was amazing! It actually feel the sense of being there.

アマゾンの熱帯雨林行きのオンラインツアーがよかったよ。本当に行った気になれる。

The movie really gives you the sense of immersion because of its VR effects.

その映画はVR効果のせいで本当に臨場感がある。

Vibe 　雰囲気

「雰囲気」というと、atomosphereとかambienceのような単語もありますが、vibeは人や町を含めてその場の熱気とかまで表現できる「雰囲気」なのでこれを応用して表現できます。

You can actually feel the vibe because its audio and visual effects are incredible.

あの映画は音響と視覚的な効果が素晴らしくて臨場感がある。

I got a weird vibe from the movie. It's not my thing.

あの映画はなんだか気持ちが悪かった。私のテイストではないかな。

The island is well known for its healing vibes and it has been attracting many tourists.

その島には癒しの空気感があると言われていて多くの旅行者から人気です。
