  ドラマから学ぶワンフレーズ Episode12 : At 9:45 sharp　 Devil wears Pradaから連投です Mirandaが第一アシスタントEmilyに電話で指示を出すシーンから I want the driver to drop me off at 9:30 and pick me up at 9: 45 sharp . ドライバーには 9 時半に降ろして、きっちり 9:45 に迎えに来てもらいたいわ sharp は形容詞で鋭い、鋭利なという意味がありますが、時刻に使うと「きっちり」「ぴったり」と寸分の狂いもないようなイメージになります 時刻の後ろにsharpと付けてあげるだけでOKです The train leaves at 10 am sharp.　 その電車は10時ぴったりに出発します 言い換えるなら、 on time （時間通りに）のイメージです ちなみに in time にすると、時間内に では逆に「だいたい○時」とか、「○時くらいに」と言いたいときは? ...ish が一番使われます 例えば「5時ころに会おう」なら I'll meet you at 5ish. となります このishという表現実はとても便利で「○○っぽい」という表現としていろんな名詞の後ろに付けてしまってOK I like that yellowish coat. 私あの黄色っぽいコートが気に入った みたいに

  ドラマから学ぶワンフレーズ Episode11 : Pull up the photo shoot ひさーしぶりのドラマワンフレーズ。 というか、投稿自体が久しぶりすぎ。ようやく少しだけこういう時間ができてきました。 そして最近おもしろいドラマがなくてドラマ難民的になっていたのも事実です。 ハリウッドのストライキの影響か新作のアップデートが遅くなってる気が！ 今回は生徒さんからリクエストがありスクリプトをレッスンで使っている、映画Devil wears Prada（プラダを着た悪魔）の一コマから。 第一アシスタントのEmilyが主人公の新米アシスタントAndyに電話でスケジュールを伝えるシーン She is pulling up the Sedona shoot from October. 彼女セドナでの撮影を10月から前倒しするつもりよ 日本のビジネスシーンでも「前倒し」「後ろ倒し」といった表現よく使いますよね 覚えておくと便利です 基本の使い方は　 pull up a meeting （会議を前倒しする）というように後ろにスケジュール変更したい事柄を置けばOK 直訳で、ひっぱりあげるというイメージ！ 他には　 Pull it forward も使えますよ では反対に後に遅らせるなら??? push the meeting back と、今度は後ろに押して動かすイメージです 押すー引くで覚えておきましょう😉 そしてshootとは撮影のこと shootingとも言いますが、銃の発砲という意味もあるのでちょっとびっくりしますが文脈から判断しましょう 動詞としてshoot撮影するでもよく使われます When is the next photo shooting ?　次の撮影はいつですか?  有名人 有名人や著名人は Public figure 　といいます。 public 公の + figure 人物　です。 figureにはとても多くの意味があります。 名詞だけでも、①数字　②人物　③形　④フィギュア、人形　と大きく分けて4つの意味。 例えば historical figure　歴史上の人物 political figure　政治家 spiderman figure　スパイダーマンのフィギュア figure skating　フィギュアスケート 動詞では ①思う　②句動詞 figure out でわかる　という意味で使われます。 他には high-profile person 　とも言えます。 profile は日本語でも紹介文や略歴をプロフィールといいますが英語の意味もそのままです。 発音だけ　ぷろふぁいるとなります。 場合によっては celebrity 　も使えそうです。特にマスコミを通して知られている人を指すイメージです。 日本語のセレブは意味が違うので気を付けたい単語です。
