This time, let me share some of my experiences during my trip related to food with you.

今回は旅行中の食をテーマにシェアさせてもらいます。

Before I went to Switzerland, I always associated the country with chocolates, cheese, mountains and of course Heidi! That was all I could think of. What about you?

スイスに行く前、スイスと言えばチョコ、チーズ、山、ハイジ。他に思いつくことがなかったんですが皆さんはどうですか？

And it turned out that I was totally right. Maybe I should also add milk, yogurt and spring water.

実際そのイメージ間違っていませんでしたwww　あと、牛乳、ヨーグルト、アルプスの天然水をプラスすれば完璧。

The first Swiss cousin experience was Rositi, which is one of the traditional Swiss dish. Rositi is shredded potatoes cooked in a pan looking like a kind of pancake. I had it for lunch at a cafe in Bern, it was  cooked so crunchy and came with a lot of cheese on top. It also had spinach and fried egg. It was nice and cheesy. I am not a big fan of cheese but was able to enjoy the dish very much and I strongly recommend you to try it if you have a chance.

最初に食べたスイス料理はロシティと呼ばれる伝統料理で、細切りしたジャガイモをフライパンでパンケーキみたいにカリカリに焼いたもの。ベルン市内のカフェで食べたのですが、そこではカリカリに焼いたポテトの上にチーズ、ホウレンソウと目玉焼きが乗ってきました。チーズたっぷりでおいしかったです。私特別ジャガイモやチーズが好きというわけではないのですが、絶対におすすめできるお料理でした！

Also I got to try the authentic fondu at my friend place. They told me that Swiss people usually eat fondu only in winter.

It was really nice and cheesy again but what surprised me the most was that they eat only bread in fondu. You know when we have fondu in Japan, we eat vegetables like broccoli, cherry tomatoes or potatoes as well as some sausages or bacon? They think that is totally Japanized strange style of fondu. I also found out that they drink either white wine or tea with fondu. I could go for beer but they wouldn't!

友達のおうちでは本場のフォンデュもごちそうになりました。基本スイス人は冬しかフォンデュ食べないらしいです。チーズが濃厚でとってもおいしかったのですが、何がびっくりだったかって、それはスイスではフォンデュの時はパンしか食べないってこと。日本ではよくブロッコリーとかミニトマト、ジャガイモ、ウインナーやベーコンを食べますよね？それは完全に日本式にアレンジされた変なフォンデュなんだそう。それからフォンデュするときの飲み物は白ワインか紅茶って決まっているみたいで、私ならビールでもって思ったのですが邪道らしいですwww


And the biggest meal of the day is usually lunch for Swiss people. They have 5 meals a day including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, which is common for Western countries and they eat hot meal only for lunch. When I was walking in Bern, I saw many people enjoying their lunch at restaurants even it was a weekday and it seemed it is more popular for them to seat outside enjoying the sun.

スイスの人たちにとって1日のメインの食事はお昼ご飯。基本は、朝、午前のお茶、昼、午後のお茶、夕食という欧米では一般的な1日5食で、温かい食事をとるのはお昼ご飯だけ。ベルン市内を歩いている時も平日にもかかわらず多くの人が外食を楽しんでおり、特に日の当たる外のテラス席が人気のようでした。

It was surprising that their dinner is so simple that they just take out some ham and cheese from the fridge. （Not always though. Depends on occasions.) Wow, I am so jealous that Swiss mothers don't need to cook in the evening!!!

冷蔵庫からハムとチーズを出してくるだけ！というシンプルな夕食には驚きでした。(毎回というわけではなく状況によるでしょうが）私的にはスイスのお母さんって夕食作らなくていいのかー！と羨ましい限りです！

右上のちっちゃいサラミがおいしかった！下の方の大き目はチキンのサラミ。
初めて聞いた＆食べた！
お店に行くと加工肉の種類がとんでもなく多い。（もちろんチーズも！）


But one thing I can say for sure is that the quality of dairy and processed meat are very high. I don't usually eat much cheese or ham or bacon but surprisingly they were all so nice. Namely, Salami. It has always been something I wouldn't eat unless I have to but I can definitely enjoy those made in Switzerland or Germany. They were way better than the ones we get Japan, way beyond my expectation.

でも１つ確かなことは、乳製品と加工肉の質がとても高いということ。私普段チーズやハムやベーコンをあんまり食べないんですが、どれ食べてもおいしくてびっくり。特にサラミ。私の中でサラミはどちらかというと苦手な食べ物だったのですがスイスかドイツのなら行ける！日本で食べるのより断然おいしいし、私の期待を優に超えてました。

これはスイス式バーベキュー

週末はブランチがお決まりらしい。お家でしたり、レストランでしたり。

スイスの伝統的なパン。型に入れず編んで焼いてあって、味や食感は食パン。

ベルン市内のカフェで。スイカの(!!!)冷製スープにはびっくり。

川のほとりのジェラート屋さんで。ヨーグルト＆ラズベリー。

スイスの伝統的な焼き菓子たち。にこちゃんマークのクッキーはどこ行っても売ってた。
１つ１つのサイズがパンくらいあって気軽には買えないwww


村のお祭りで食べたステーキ。脂身なくて見た目硬そうなのにすごく柔らかかった。

スイス産ビール。可もなく不可もなくwww


ベルン駅にはカフェがたくさん。一番人が集まっていたカフェで買ってみた。

ベルン市内のマーケットにて。つやっつやの新鮮なトマト。
スイスの夏は短くて、今が野菜や果物の最盛期とのこと。

ヨーグルトのクオリティもめちゃめちゃ高い！唯一スイスで良心的価格なのがヨーグルト。

ドイツのビアホールで。「ソーセージ」を注文したら細切りのハムみたいのが冷製パスタ風になって出てきてビックリ。ドイツではこれをソーセージと呼ぶらしい。

デザートはやっぱり海外サイズ。このサイズ感なつかしい。日本の3倍が基本。

ドイツのスーパーで。これぞ海外のすし！って感じ。

The vast expenses of parking lot areas in places like Walmart or within the housing projects illustrates its importance. But there is a new issue in parking landscape with two possible solutions. The dilemma: how can city officials implement varying parking charges for different cars to increase revenue while maintaining fairness for car owners? Solution one: What about charging more for cars that emit more pollutants ? It seems sensible considering global focus on climate change. Solution two: What about if we charge larger, heavier vehicles more because they consume more parking space? Both these ideas are being tested worldwide. In the UK, for example, driving a fossil fuel power dirty car in cities like London or Dublin means you'll be paying through the nose . Your parking fee would be double compared to eco-friendly vehicles.
